Alumnae Theatre Company presents ELLIOTT HAYES’ dark Canadian comedy “Homeward Bound”, directed by JANE CARNWATH.
This family feud is more than a game show.
After dinner, the knives come out.
It’s just a ‘normal’ family dinner in a regular dysfunctional family. There’s paterfamilias Glen (JOHN ILLINGWORTH), a retired lawyer; his slightly scatty wife Bonnie (ELVA MAI HOOVER); and their 30-something offspring – angry, approval-seeking daughter Norris (TABITHA KEAST); her husband Kevin (ZVI GILBERT), who’s still bemused by her family; gay journalist son Nick (JOE BOYD), the favoured child; and his partner, Guy (LEE POULIN). But after dinner, when Glen drops a bombshell on the family, nobody except Bonnie quite knows how to deal with it.
Margaret Atwood calls the script “a brisk, intricate, and tightly-strung play with a lot of laughter.”
