The Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance Company presents a provocative and captivating evening of flamenco inspired by the life and legacy of Spanish poet Federico García Lorca (1898 –1936), one of Spain’s most celebrated and compelling writers, a contemporary of Salvador Dali and Picasso.
Esmeralda Enrique’s company of fierce powerful dancers and consummate musicians are joined by guest artists from Spain including returning 2009 Dora Award nominee for Outstanding Performance for the company’s Cantos de la Tierra last season, Juan Ogalla, along with singer José Anillo and regular guest guitarist and composer José Valle “Chuscales”.
Esmeralda Enrique, guest dancer/choreographer Ogalla and the company artists will create an evening of work that captures the mood, the soul, the “duende” of Lorca’s imagery and life.
Through its songs, rhythms and emotions, flamenco is an art form that connects viscerally and deeply on a universal level. Enrique and her exemplary company of dancers and musicians never fail to rouse the passions of their audiences.
